Marshall Senger Goes 3 for 3 to Close Crossfire Bullriding's Season in Eriksdale

The Crossfire Bullriding season came to an end in Eriksdale this past weekend during the Boneyard General Repair Boyz & Bullz presented by Westrans on October 2nd. As one of the few remaining events before the finale, riders were looking to get into the top 25 qualifiers and secure their spot at the BRC Season Finals in Sylvan Lake, AB at the beginning of November. We saw past Crossfire winners in William Barrows and Stefan Tonita, both looking to punch their ticket to the finals, as well as 2026 season regulars in Brodi Beasley, Kaden Piper, and Wyatt Fennig, and more. In an arena where he placed second a year prior, Marshall Senger would return with a vengeance, covering all three bulls put under him, and taking the event title.
The very first out of the Long Round was Marshall on board SBB Black Gold who didn't have a great trip and the judges deemed it worthy of a re-ride. Even though he scored a respectable 72 points, Marshall accepted the option, getting matched up against RKO Chain Smoker. This is a bull he rode previously in Grunthal during the BRC Invitational for 81 points. This time, he beat that score for an amazing 85.5 points, and ended up being the top-scored ride of the round.
Third out of the chutes was Brodi Beasley, the top rider in the BRC and came in on a hot streak, riding 10 of his last 11 bulls. He drew SBB Muddy Duals but was thrown to the ground before the buzzer. However, this wouldn't affect his spot in the overall BRC standings as he still has a commanding lead ahead of the competition. Later in the round were previous Crossfire winners, Stefan Tonita and William Barrows, both of whom we hadn't seen at a Crossfire event so far this season and sitting outside of the top 25 coming into Eriksdale. Stefan beat SBB Lil Man for 77 points and William scored 80 points on RKO Dirty Works.

Joel Fisk also had a good showing in the Long Round. He covered SBB Indian Palace for 76.5 points, followed up by his double-entry on RKO Out of the Ashes for 82. The number three ranked rider, Davis Young, matched up with RKO Night Air who has not been ridden a single time this season and this night would be no different. Davis came down before the buzzer but still held on long enough to give him a chance in the short round. Just ahead of Davis in the BRC standings is the number two ranked rider, Kaden Piper. Kaden had a rematch against LSB Batter Up, previously going head to head in Dryden, ON where Kaden scored 87. He didn't quite reach that same high but still covered for 84 points. Following him was Wyatt Fennig on the season debut of LSB A Touch Edgy for 78 points. Scott Smith ended LSB Bull Dog's 3-buckoff streak, grabbing a score of 82 and his first cheque of the BRC season.
Following the Long Round was the Crossfire Bullriding Novice Series, and as the Boyz & Bullz is the final Crossfire event of the season, the Novice championship was set to be awarded. Coming into Eriksdale, only two novice riders had made a successful ride all season - Trey Lepp, who scored 65.5 points on Black List at Waskada, and Gideon Hamstra, who also rode Black List for a score of 74 in Richer. The other riders in the race were still sitting at zero, so with the title decided on cumulative score, it was still anyone's game. We saw six attempts, including Trey Lepp, who was thrown from the back of Sask Time. Gideon was the sole successful novice rider of the night, scoring 75 points on Calm Like a Bomb. That gave him 149 points on the season and he was awarded as the 2026 Crossfire Novice Winner.

The Championship Round kicked off with a successful ride from Keian Munroe, his first at a Crossfire event this season. He conquered RKO Boots or Hearts, a bull that was only ridden one other time this year. Following him was Davis Young for a rematch on R8B Pop Fly. Davis covered the bull at the Clunie-Cooper Memorial for 87.5 back in September and this time he scored a bit lower at 85 points, still good enough for third in the round. RKO Razors Edge has been having a fantastic season, only being covered 2 times in 9 outs but he would be no match for Stefan Tonita who rode to the buzzer for an incredible 87.5, going on to be the highest score of the night.
Following Stefan, Wyatt Fennig took on LSB Moosomin Dodge Elk for the second time this season, previously besting the bull back in June at the Grunthal Spring Twist Off. However, he was not able to repeat that success, coming down before the buzzer. William Barrows took on LSB Desperado who came into this event unridden throughout the entire season. William would break the bull's streak and score 84.5 for his efforts. We saw another repeat matchup between Kaden Piper and SBB Moosey. Just like in Moosomin and Midale, Kaden would cover the bull, this time scoring 73.5 compared to the 85 and 87.5 of their previous bouts.
The final rider of the night was Marshall Senger matched up against LSB Scooby Snacks, a bull that is known for taking riders to the pay window. Marshall made the 8 and scored 87 - just half a point behind the top score of the round. However, thanks to his 85.5 score from the Long Round, he totalled enough to take the top spot on the night and was awarded 780 BRC points, $3,135.00, and the winner's trophy. This win boosted him up into fifth place in the BRC standings.

Some big moves were made thanks to the double points from this event. William Barrows and Stefan Tonita both squeezed into the top 25 going to the finals. William went from 32nd up to 21st and Stefan jumped from 36th to 24th, so they'll need to work hard to secure those positions on the ladder. With only three more events to go before the season ends, we'll be keeping a close eye leading into the Sylvan Lake BRC Season Finals on Nov 6 and 7!
