Waskada and Richer Split Two Ways as Brodi Beasley Extends His BRC Lead

The BRC was back in Manitoba for two exciting events, continuing the Central run and Crossfire's busiest month of the season! Near the 49th parallel, Southwest Chevy's Bulls on the Border returned for its third year in Waskada followed by the kickoff of Richer's three day rodeo weekend with the BRC Richer Rodeo Bullnanza. Two nights, with two different winners, but it was the number 1 rider in the BRC, Brodi Beasley, that extended his grip on the top spot in the standings.

August 6th in Waskada, the rookie Jayce Rieger was the first out of the chute, setting the tone with an 80 point score on SBB Black Gold. After him, we saw rides from the brothers Jaden and Lucas Ozirney, as well as a rematch between Chase Skene and SBB Orange Popsicle. These two previously faced off in Midale where Chase scored 85 points, winning him the long round. This time, although getting a slightly lower score, Chase was again the victor, lasting the 8 seconds and scoring 82 points for 4th in the round. Following him, Kaden Piper and Brodi Beasley each scored 84 points, sharing the round win.

The championship round was a different story. Among the top eight returning riders, only one was able to make it to the buzzer - reigning Waskada champion Kaden Piper. Kaden climbed aboard LSB Scooby Snacks, a bull that he also covered and won the championship round earlier this year in MacGregor with 84 points. Not only did Kaden best Scooby Snacks once again, but this time with a higher score of 87.5 points. The last challenger of the night was Brodi Beasley on MBB Sock Monkey and with the bull tossing Brodi to the ground before the required eight seconds, Kaden was awarded the win, gaining $5,270 and 395 BRC points.

Down the road in Richer on August 7th, the bulls dominated in round one. The first rider to best a bull was the Moosomin, SK rookie, Joel Fisk, with an 80.5 score. Later in the round, Brodi Beasley conquered LSB War Remedy for 81 points. The final successful ride came at the hands of the number 2 rider in the BRC, Hayden Mulvey from Brooks AB. Hayden rode MBB Self Esteem for 82 points, the top score of the round. Immediately after him, Kaden Piper, looking to continue his Crossfire winning streak, attempted MBB Joshua's Habit but came off early.

Kaden didn't have to wait long into round two before getting a chance to show why he is not to be ignored. He faced off against MBB Sock Monkey, the bull that threw Brodi the night before, and scored an incredible 88.5, matching his career high from Waskada in 2025. This ride would end up being awarded the Ride of the Night along with Sock Monkey and Midnight Bucking Bulls being awarded the Bull of the Event. MBB overall had an amazing showing in Richer, with the five highest scored rides of the event all coming on Midnight stock.

Three more riders in round two would go on to answer Kaden's challenge. Joel Fisk rode MBB Fudge Puddles for 83 points, followed by Brodi Beasley on MBB Cool n Labeled with 87 points, putting him at the top of the event standings with one man left to ride. Next, Hayden Mulvey, the final rider of the night, matched up against MBB Holy Moses and rode to the buzzer, scoring 86.5, just half a point shy of Brodi's.

As the scores were tallied up, there were a couple of near-misses that took shape. Kaden's strong showing in round two meant that any score of 80.5 or higher in round one would have given him the event win. Brodi and Hayden each covered Joshua's Habit at 80.5 or higher earlier this season at Craven, so such a score was definitely possible. Closer still were the final scores of the event. Brodi's score on two bulls was 168 compared to the 168.5 points that Hayden scored on two. Just half a point difference to win the event, $3,300, and 400 BRC points towards the standings.

As the dust settled on the double header, although Brodi Beasley didn't win an event or even a round, he stayed consistent, getting second place for both nights. For his efforts, he gained 995 BRC points, compared to the 880 and 875 that Hayden and Kaden, the number 2 and 3 placed riders respectively, were awarded across the two events. This consistency paid off by increasing Brodi's lead in the BRC standings as he leaves Manitoba with a wider lead than he arrived with, and a successful first trip to the province in the books. The Central Run continues in just a few days in Grunthal for the largest 2-day BRC event in Manitoba.
